Remembering the Heros

This weekend, we joined our wonderful family for a picnic. There was food and laughter and love. But in the back of our minds, we remembered those who serve, have served and those who have fallen. Daniel's grandfather was a WW2 vet. At one point during the war, he was mistakenly declared dead and woke up surrounded by those who were dead. Thankfully, he made it home and went on to marry Daniel's grandmother.

So today, say a prayer for all the soldiers who are serving our country today. Then say one for their families and the families of the fallen. Also, read this story about a more recent hero. Here is a little excerpt:
Mike Stokely didn't die for a just cause, he died for a lot of just causes, including the ones I set out above. I wish I were fit to tie his shoe laces but I am fortunate enough to have a son who believed in God, family, duty, honor and country and who certainly turned out to be the better of the two of us.
