Mouse Hunting in Greenville

Daniel, Sarah, Ashton and I did a fun and unique thing on Wednesday. We became mouse hunters for the day. A few years ago, a senior working on a class project came up with the idea to place 9 mice on Main St. His goal was to draw people to the city and provide them with a free and fun scavenger hunt. Instead of leaving as a project, he went further and had the mice created and placed in the city. Now it's a big draw for all who love to search for things.

Upon arriving in downtown, we immediately found a mouse hiding under a statue. A few blocks down, Sarah discovered another one. By then, she was hooked! We found a restaurant to have lunch at and then went to get Sirius a few treats from The Barkery. A kind gentleman told us they had clues to the mice locations at Mast General. We headed over there and picked up the directions. Sarah was so excited. Her favorite was Maggie who likes heights. The hardest to find was the Wachovia mouse. The clue was a bit deceptive but we refused to give up.

As we neared the end of the search, we realized something. There were 10 mice instead of 9. The mouse that we found on the way up Main was not listed on the clue sheet. Now, we have to go back and see if there are any more stray mice.

On the way back to our car, we rewarded ourselves with some gelato from Luna Rosa. It's what every every good mouse hunter needs after a hot day tracking mice!

If you do happen to be in Greenville, check out the Mice on Main. You can make a day of it, as we did with lunch and gelato. Or, you can pack a picnic lunch to have at Falls Park.

By the way, this is similar to geo-caching (click here to read a post by Kevin and Michelle). I think we'll try that after we get a GPS.
